Many psychologists would would have been satisfied with a single M.A. in their educational background, but Dr. Michael A Civin, Ph.D is just different, since he went on to obtain a second M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Adelphi University’s Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies. He received that honor in 1986 and it’s clear that still wasn’t enough, since he went on to get his Ph.D. from Adelphi in 1988, at which point he officially became Dr. Michael A. Civin, Ph.D. He then went on to earned a Postdoctoral Certificate in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy in 1993 from the same school.
Michael A. Civin, Ph.D. has always believed the pursuit of as full an education as possible was enormously important, but he also has a lot of experience to go with it. He has been a practicing clinical psychologist for three decades, which is a key element but he came to the realization years ago that no one who wants to be great ever stops learning. Of course, to even get to the point where someone can practice, a great education was key, which is why he earned an A.B. degree cum laude from Harvard in 1968, and then when to the Albert Einstein College of Medicine over the next year, before going on to earn his first Master of Arts a year after that.
