There are few fields of study that are as important as psychology. After all, we do not all make use of advanced mathematics, microbiology, or information systems, but we all have basic knowledge of psychology. However, a basic knowledge of psychology is just that—basic. It will not help you to solve the most difficult problems faced by humans. For that, one needs years of training and extensive education. Dr. Michael Civin has an advanced knowledge of psychology that comes from an advanced education and years upon years of experience practicing in the field. In 1968 he received his A.B. from Harvard College, from which he graduated with cum laude honors. He then went to Albert Einstein College of Medicine for a year before leading to attend the University of Oregon. He graduated from that institution in 1970 with a Masters of Arts degree. He then graduated from the Gordon F. Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University with a Masters of Arts degree, which he achieved in 1986.
Dr. Michael Civin was able to obtain his PhD from Adelphi University. This was in 1988 and in 1993 Dr. Michael Civin received his Postdoctoral Certificates in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. In 2008, Dr. Michael Civin co-founded a firm called Rose Hill Psychological Services. Dr. Civin works at this New York City-based firm as a senior psychologist.
